Dawn of the Knight is a 2D animated music video that tells the tale of a princess who longs to be a knight. It is a queer film representing my own journey of gender identity as a transgender man. I noticed that there are not many examples of media that focus specifically on the experiences of transmasc individuals. My sincerest hope is that LGBTQIA+ people from all walks of life will be able to resonate with Dawn of the Knight.
The film was screened at the 2026 SVA MFACA Thesis Screenings and received the Alumni Scholarship Award. I worked with my talented classmates, Sofia Arbaiza Martinez, Cyan Zhao, and Ash Suh for help with background art and 3D animation.
Dawn of the Knight features the song “Nectar” produced by Magic Circuit and performed by Nyanners.It also features narration performed by Heidi Tabing.
Currently, the film is not available for public viewing as I’m in the process of submitting it to film festivals. Stay tuned for the official release on my YouTube channel! :)
